  Bible Study

    bible
...ongoing every Wednesday and Thursday, in the lower level of Milette Manor at 5 p.m. Please plan on joining the Sisters as they explore the scriptures and learn ever more about our Faith.

The Bible is a twofold literature, made up of two distinct collections which correspond with two successive and unequal periods of time in the history of man. The older of these collection, mostly written in Hebrew, corresponds with the many centuries during which the Jewish people enjoyed a national existence, and forms the Hebrew, or Old Testament, literature; the more recent collection, begun not long after Our Lord's ascension, and made up of Greek writings, is the Early Christian, or New Testament, literature. Yet, in another and deeper respect, the Biblical literature is pre-eminently one. Its two sets of writings are most closely connected with regard to doctrines revealed, facts recorded, customs described, and even expressions used. Above all, both collection have one and the same religious purpose, one and the same inspired character. They form the two parts of a great organic whole the center of which is the person and mission of Christ.

For more information on Bible Study in English and Spanish, e-mail or call the rectory at 882-4362

Booster Club For the more adventurous, we have a weekly 'Lottery.' This is both a personal benefit as well as a Parish benefit. Sixty percent (60%) of the money collected each week goes to the parish and forty percent (40%) to the winning participant. Simply put $1.00 and your name and phone number on an envelope or pick up one of the pre-printed envelopes at the doors of the church and drop your entry into the collection basket each week. Try your luck and help the parish at the same time.

  Eucharistic Adoration

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. In the many Churches that have this adoration, the Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance, and people come to pray and worship Jesus continually throughout the day and often the night. Christ’s great love for us was shown when he was crucified on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and give us eternal life. He loves us without limit, and offers Himself to us in the Holy sacrament of the Eucharist.

Eucharistic Adoration at the Chapel, 43 Franklin Street, is Tuesday through Thursday 10:00 am - 6:00pm. The Corpus Christi Eucharistic Chapel is open for people to gather in quiet prayer for our needs and those of the world before the Blessed Sacrament.

For more information e-mail, or call the rectory at 882-4362

GREETERS provide a welcome welcome to all who enter for our liturgical celebrations
ALTAR SERVERS

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS minister the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to our shut-ins

  RCIA

What is involved in the RCIA process, or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults? There are several periods in this process; the beginning period is called a time of Inquiry or the Pre-Catechumrnate. The other periods are called the, Catechumenate, Enlightenment and Purification, and Mystagogy. These periods of the process are all preceded by formal Rites with the assembly that will be your affirmation to the community as well as yourself, that you are ready to move on in your journey towards your initiation into our "Catholic Christian" community.

  Rosary

The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principal events or mysteries in the history of our salvation, and to thank and praise God for them. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into the five JOYFUL MYSTERIES (The Annunciation, The Visitation, The Nativity, The Presentation, and The Finding of Jesus in the Temple), the five LUMINOUS MYSTERIES (The Baptism of Jesus, The Wedding at Cana, The Proclamation of the Kingdom, The Transfiguration, and The Institution of the Blessed Sacrament), the five SORROWFUL MYSTERIES (The Agony in the Garden, The Scourging at the Pillar, The Crowning with Thorns, The Carrying of the Cross, and The Crucifixion), and the five GLORIOUS MYSTERIES (The Resurrection, The Ascension, The Descent of the Holy Spirit, The Assumption, and The Coronation). Many faithful who had recourse to this devotion have had their prayers answered.

The object of the Stations is to help the faithful to make in spirit, as it were, a pilgrimage to the chief scenes of Christ's sufferings and death, and this has become one of the most popular of Catholic devotions. It is carried out by passing from Station to Station, with certain prayers at each and devout meditation on the various incidents in turn.

The Stations of the Cross are a regular lenten devotion. For more information, e-mail or call the rectory at 882-4362
