Faith Enrichment Oportunities

Fellowship/discussion series:

“Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth- in a word, to know himself- so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves.” – Saint Pope John Paul II. The adult ministry here at St. Aloysius aims to help everyday people grow in knowledge of the Faith. We believe in the wise words of Saint John Paul as he states that knowing more about God will enable us to know more about ourselves and our place in this world. This is why this ministry allows for many ways in which you can learn more about the faith in a way where you are meeting and learning alongside other people! Be it through fellowship and discussion or lively lectures on different topics of the Faith! So far we have had a 4 week series revolving around Coffee and Donuts with St. Augustine. Several people were able to come by, enjoy some food, and talk about what they had read in the timeless classic “The Confessions” by Saint Augustine. Here are some of their thoughts:

Confessions of St. Augustine Series Review:

I really loved this opportunity to read a Catholic classic! I enjoyed the format of the meetings, with some key points proposed for consideration and then the group discussion and conversation that followed. This was a wonderful environment to learn about our faith and to get to know some members of the parish. I really benefitted from their insights and experiences. My one critique is that I wish this program was longer than four weeks!! I look forward to other similar mini-courses on other spiritually nourishing books. Thank you, Cindy!!!

I loved everything about our class! The book that was chosen, St. Augustine’s “Confessions” is one of the best books I’ve ever read! The book and the discussions were also excellent because we discussed the points that either touched us or challenged us. Overall, it was a great way to get to know each other as fellow parishioners and form lasting friendships. Thank you for taking the time and nurturing us in our faith! I can’t wait for the next book! Once again, thank you and may God continue blessing you.

The class on St. Augustine “The Confessions” was such a faith-growing experience. For me, the best part was listening to each other as we shared our ideas and views on certain passages from the book and the discussions that followed. What a great way to stop and think about your faith and get a perspective into the many ways individuals come by their faith. This series makes you look forward to coming back the following week.

Thank you for putting on the class and I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.
