  St. Aloysius' Stained-Glass Windows

Some of the original stained-glass windows at St. Aloysius Church. These beautiful windows were originally commissioned in the 1890s by Reverend John Milette for the old Church, first built in 1871.  The windows were completed by June 18, 1903.

In proceeding with this work, craftsmen designed templates (drawings) in black and white showing the placement of the figures in the scene, with shading and specific details.  These were used to help guide the glass artists as they created these wonderful pieces of art.

Three of the artists who designed the drawings were:  Declara Alois (1868-1934?), Mignon Conrad (1869-1921), and Huber Hans who worked at the Art Glass Company from 1896 to 1899.

A special thank you to Gernot Fussenegger for these photographs, files of the drawings and the description of the original order.  His grandfather was Mignon Conrad.
